Do I need ANY prior experience?

Nope! Because you will have guided one-on-one instruction with a professional artist, no prior experience or artistic ability is required.

Rhonda has been exclusively metal-smithing since she graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 2004, so has over 20 years experience in the field. She will be there to help you every step of the way by breaking it down into small steps that make the process easy to follow.

What's included?
  • 3-4 hours of private instruction for simple band rings for two led by professional metal-smith, Rhonda Dudek.
  • Keepsake Digital Photos, staged and candid, in our beautiful loft studio filled with plants and windows and tons of natural light.
  • Timelapse video of your process
  • Up to two complimentary brass practice rings so you feel confident on your final ring.
  • Leave with Two finished Rings
  • Custom Ring Box with engraved names/dates or initials. Other customizable items are available for sale as well.
  • Tasty Snacks & Coffee/Drinks during your stay
  • Congratulatory Toast (NA available) after your workshop!

***This workshop fee does not include material choices. This will start around $500-$1200 per gold ring and $100 per sterling ring depending on finger size and design choices. This fee is a deposit for your ring making workshop AND your agreement to our Terms & Conditions***

***CLASS IS NON-REFUNDABLE ONCE BOOKED. If your plans change, we'll be happy to reschedule your workshop for another date or put your payment towards custom rings made in our studio**

What will the rings look like?

Rings created in this workshop:

  • are minimal, classic, and timeless designs
  • may include textured surfaces made with hammers. rolling mills and other tools
  • are finished with matte, brushed or polished surfaces
  • may include custom personalization through stamped inscriptions
  • a slight curve can be added on narrow bands to accommodate some engagement ring styles
  • All the materials are SCS Certified Recycled Precious Metals sourced from an American refiner.
  • We believe strongly in utilizing existing materials that are refined to the same purity as newly-mined materials. We use as many harmless chemicals in the studio as well.
  • All metals are nickel free and do not require plating

  • This makes it difficult to quote until we know more details. We can provide a personal quote through your consultation that reflects the design choices you have made for your rings. Typically, the Gold Ring Fee for a pair of rings is around $1500 - $2400 combined, in addition to the workshop. However, it's not set in stone with so many variables! We're happy to try and work within your budget

What materials are available?

  • Sterling Silver, 14k and 18k Yellow gold, and Rose Gold are available at this time.
  • Sterling is around $100 per ring
  • Gold rings will start around $500-$2500 per based on:

    -metal choice

    -finger size

    -width of band

    -thickness of band

    -shape of ring stock

-current gold market prices (as of 4/2024 the silver market is at $25 per oz and gold is $2750 per oz for reference)

For example:

- 14K Yellow/Rose gold will be much lower than the same ring style in 18K Yellow Gold

- a wide ring for a larger finger will be incredibly different than a dainty thin band in a smaller ring size

Can I make this a fun surprise proposal?

Um, yes, please! Rhonda would be DELIGHTED to work with you to make this the specialist day! We can video the reaction and provide some special goodies. Just reach out if you think this is something you'd like to do. Depending on decisions, additional fees may apply.

Do we get to leave with our rings?

Sure do! You'll have two fully finished beautiful rings to take home and show off.

Are there any add-ons for the experience?

Yup! We have a laser cutter in house so can customize a ton of goodies. And we're happy to custom make something special for the occasion. Just let us know after booking. Depending on decisions, additional fees may apply.

What should I wear?

We'll be taking photos so feel free to come all cute, but just remember the following:

CLOSED TOE SHOES! This is a must for safety concerns.

Sleeves you can roll up, nothing loose around your wrists.

Hair will need to be out of your face during soldering and polishing.

You'll have to wear an N95 mask during certain processes (not the ones we'll take photos of) so please keep that in mind.

We provide heavy-duty aprons so your clothes should be fine during the process, but you are still in a metals studio so you may get dirty during the process.

Rhonda wears a dress most days in here so those are a-ok!

Is this Refundable?

Unfortunately, Because we order the materials and schedule these in advance, we are not able to offer refunds. And all sales are final, tho dates are flexible.

You can reschedule to available times or towards custom rings made by our studio if you're not able to attend the workshop.

Where are you located?

Please note that our studio is not ADA-compliant and is located on the second floor of an old jewelry mill building. There are two sets of stairs you'll need to climb and no elevator. Eventually, we would love to find a studio with proper accessibility!

Random Details

Please note we are located in a working mill building. While our personal space is truly gorgeous, there may still be noises from our neighbors. We play music which covers most things, but please be prepared to hear others in the building.

Googls Maps like to take you to the wrong place, into the river along our building in fact! Our entrance is on MANTON ave and it's a large brick mill building along a river.
